Welcome

St Dominic's Catholic Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 years. The school serves the parishes of The Immaculate Conception and St Dominic's, Stone, Our Lady's Swynnerton, Sacred Heart, Eccleshall, and Holy Michael's Aston-by-Stone. The school has capacity for 210 children on roll.

The school is located in the bustling town of Stone, close to shops and many other amenities and first opened in 1886, though the present building school was built in 1987 and has been extended and improved in recent years to provide a well ordered and pleasant environment. All children are taught in single age year groups by their own class teacher for the majority of the timetable. The teaching staff are well supported by teaching assistants in all classes.

Effective learning takes placed in a disciplined and caring environment. For this reason our emphasis is always on good behaviour, positive attitudes and achievement for all. Our set of "Golden Rules", which the children are expected to abide by, are consistent and reinforced in every year group.

Headteacher's Message

Our aim to engender a family community is achieved by encouraging each child to work and play to the best of his/her ability whilst at the same time respecting and considering others.

We feel that it is extremely important for parents/carers and teachers to work together so that each child achieves his/her potential in every area of school life. Good home-school liaison is an important part of any pupil's educational development and to this end regular newsletters are issued to inform parents about matters which affect pupils and parents. In addition, parents' meetings are held twice yearly in order to discuss each child's progress and attainment.

We hope that parents/carers find the atmosphere within the school to be a happy and friendly one, as it is our aim to make all parents/carers feel welcome when visiting the school, be it for attending meetings, social events or discussing their child's progress.

We are fortunate to have a very active parents' association, which organises fund-raising events on behalf of the school and which welcomes new members to assist with its ventures.

If you are considering applying for a place at St. Dominic's Catholic Primary School, or would like to view the school, please do not hesitate to contact the head teacher either by e-mail or telephone. A very warm welcome awaits!
